What Gail recommends

“Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul” – John Eldredge
This book has a lot to say about and for women. It helps explain a lot about our fathers, our exes, and our sons, and there is a particular chapter called “A Beauty to Rescue,” which perfectly depicts what most women are looking for in a man, in a relationship.

“Have a New Kid by Friday” and “How to Get Your Kids to Mind without Losing Yours” – Kevin Lehman
These books are literal. They’re not about retraining your kids, they’re about retraining you—the parents.

“You are a Badass” – Jen Sincero
Become self-aware, then do something about it [whatever ‘it’ is for you].

“Date or Soulmate: How to Tell Someone is Worth Pursuing in Two Dates or Less” – Neil Clark Warren
This is a great book, even though it was first published in 2005, it still holds true today. Neil Clark Warren is the founder of “eHarmony.” Especially do the two exercises in the book [answering questions about your self – how will you ever ‘know’ someone else if you don’t know yourself? And make your list of “Must Haves” and “Deal Breakers” – you have to know who you are looking for and who you are not!!!

“Boundaries” and “Boundaries Face to Face: How to have that Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding” – Cloud and Townsend
We must have good boundaries with any and every one in our lives, whether work colleagues, family members, or friends, but especially with people we are dating.

“The Five Love Languages” – Dr. Gary Chapman, Ph.D.
The first time I read this book I told my boss, “This book could save marriages all by itself!” This is a must read for everyone, to determine how you speak and discern love, and how to teach your love language to your partner, who may very well speak a totally different ‘language’ than you.

“The Four Agreements” – don Miguel Ruiz
This is about understanding “where” you came from [what assets or liabilities did you bring into the ‘mix’] and making four agreements with yourself.
